"The Theme is '90's Grunge'"

"The theme is 90's grunge."

Brainstorm, brainstorm, shit. What the hell is 90's grunge? Think, what did you wear in the 90's?
Diapars, velcro shoes, girl/boy scout uniforms, overalls, floral hats, ankle socks.
We're not getting anywhere.

"The theme is 90's grunge."

What that REALLY means is what we see as 90's grunge... in 2013.

High waisted shorts, crop tops, flannels, Doc Martens, thigh highs, denim.. anything really, chunky platform shoes, floral, muscle tanks, band tees.

Ironically, I also just described a hipster.

Anyway, the theme was 90's grunge, and it was a blast!
Follow me as I explore some of these outfits from the latest shoot featuring my dance team, ACA Hip Hop. Photography by Charlie Chang.

A cropped top in army print? Talk about a double whammy!
Docs and Litas: two bold styles that people at first saw on tumblr or at Nordstroms and said, "These are stupid." Look at them now, being all fashion staples and whatnot.

Usually, being called 'nasty' is not a compliment, but nowadays, being a real life NastyGal is equivalent in fashion to being called a Beyonce.

When she heard "90s grunge", I'm almost positive she went to her sculpture class, smoked a cigarette, looked off into the distance, and shrugged condescendingly as the smoke surrounded her in a very artsy manner.

The day of the photo shoot, I'm almost positive she looked in her closet and said, "Yolo."

Mesh Top: H&M x Lanvin
Shorts & Belt: Salvation Army
Tights: House of Holland
Bustier: "I don't remember.."

I think we have established that 90s grunge entails plaid, denim, and looking "kewl".
